Common FAQ's

We believe effective treatment must be both comprehensive and personalized. That’s why we offer a wide spectrum of therapies from foundational practices used with every client to advanced, trauma-focused methods tailored to individual needs. Whether you are seeking to overcome addiction, process trauma, or strengthen your mental health, our therapeutic approaches are designed to provide safety, healing, and long-term recovery.

What types of therapy do you offer?

Fortitude Recovery offers a full continuum of evidence-based, trauma-informed therapies designed for Veterans, First Responders, and frontline professionals. Our programs include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other modalities that support recovery from trauma, addiction, and co-occurring mental health conditions. In addition to individual, group, couples, and family therapy, we provide experiential and holistic options such as yoga, art, music, and nature-based therapies.

How do I know which therapy or level of care is right for me?

Every client begins with a comprehensive clinical assessment to determine the most appropriate level of care and therapeutic approach. Our clinical team reviews your mental health history, substance use patterns, and personal goals to design a plan that fits your needs. Whether you require the structure of residential treatment or the flexibility of outpatient care, we will guide you through each step to ensure the right level of support for your recovery.

Are treatments individualized?

Yes. Every treatment plan at Fortitude Recovery is personalized to address the specific needs, strengths, and goals of each client. We recognize that no two recovery journeys are alike. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates closely to adjust therapies, interventions, and supports throughout treatment to promote lasting stability and growth.

How long does treatment typically last?

Treatment length varies based on individual progress, clinical needs, and level of care. Residential programs typically range from 30 to 90 days, while outpatient treatment may continue for several weeks or months depending on clinical recommendations and personal goals. Our team regularly reviews progress with each client to ensure treatment remains effective and appropriately paced for lasting recovery.

What is the difference between residential, outpatient, and aftercare programs?

Residential treatment provides 24-hour support in a structured environment where clients can focus fully on healing and recovery. Outpatient treatment offers more flexibility, allowing clients to attend therapy sessions and groups while maintaining responsibilities at home or in the community. Aftercare provides continued connection and support once primary treatment is complete, helping clients sustain progress and prevent relapse.

Can I move between levels of care if my needs change?

Yes. Our clinical team continually monitors each client’s progress and may recommend stepping up or down in care to ensure the right level of support. This collaborative process allows for smooth transitions between residential, outpatient, and aftercare programs based on clinical need and recovery goals.

How intensive is residential treatment?

Residential treatment at Fortitude Recovery is comprehensive and highly structured, providing multiple therapy sessions, groups, and wellness activities each day. Clients receive individualized care from a multidisciplinary clinical team that includes licensed clinicians, associate therapists, and case managers, supported by medical and wellness staff. This collaborative environment promotes stability, skill development, and meaningful healing.

Can I continue working or attending school during outpatient care?

Outpatient care is designed to support recovery while accommodating real-life responsibilities when appropriate. Some clients continue working, attending school, or caring for family, while others benefit from taking dedicated time away to focus fully on treatment. Our clinical team collaborates with each client to create a schedule that aligns with their needs, ensuring recovery remains the priority while maintaining balance and structure.

Will my employer or family be notified that I’m in treatment?

No. Your participation in treatment is completely confidential. Fortitude Recovery never shares information about your admission, treatment, or progress without your written consent. Your privacy is fully respected at every stage of care.

How is my personal information protected?

All client records are kept strictly confidential in accordance with federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations. Access to information is limited to authorized clinical and administrative staff directly involved in your care. We use secure, encrypted systems to safeguard all personal and medical information, ensuring that your privacy and trust are fully protected throughout treatment.

Do you offer support for families and loved ones?

Yes. Family involvement is an important part of the recovery process. Fortitude Recovery offers a dedicated Family Group twice weekly, available both in person and through telehealth, to provide education, support, and connection for loved ones. In addition, family therapy sessions are available to help rebuild trust, strengthen communication, and support healing for everyone involved.

What resources are available after I complete treatment?

Recovery continues long after treatment ends. We provide ongoing support through aftercare planning, alumni programs, and connections to community and peer-based resources. Clients leave with individualized relapse prevention plans, continued access to therapy or support groups when needed, and a network that promotes accountability and long-term wellbeing.

Are peer support groups available?

Yes. Peer connection is a cornerstone of recovery at Fortitude. Clients participate in on-site and community-based peer support groups that foster accountability, understanding, and shared growth. These groups are led or co-facilitated by trained professionals who ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

What makes Fortitude Recovery different from other programs?

Fortitude Recovery was created to serve those who serve others. We specialize in treating Veterans, First Responders, and frontline professionals through trauma-informed, evidence-based care that restores stability, purpose, and connection.

What sets us apart is our integration of clinical excellence, cultural understanding, and community. Every client is supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes therapists, certified counselors, case managers, medical providers, and peers who have lived or worked alongside the populations we serve. Our programs combine proven therapies with experiential and holistic approaches, blending science, structure, and humanity.

At Fortitude, healing goes beyond symptom reduction. It is about reclaiming identity, rebuilding relationships, and rediscovering strength. This is where service meets recovery, and where those who protect others finally find space to protect themselves.

Can I tour the facility before enrolling?

Yes. We encourage prospective clients and their loved ones to visit our facilities before admission. Touring allows you to meet our team, see our environment, and ask questions about our programs and services. Private and confidential tours can be arranged by contacting our admissions team directly.

Are first responders and veterans treated differently from the general population?

Yes. Our program is specifically designed for Veterans and First Responders, honoring the demands and impact of their service while upholding the same high clinical standard for all clients. We understand the realities of trauma exposure, shift work, and the unspoken pressures of a service culture that often values strength over vulnerability. At Fortitude Recovery, specialized tracks and peer-supported environments allow clients to heal among others who understand the weight of service, fostering trust, connection, and genuine recovery.
